about

Written and recorded in 1993 with an Alesis HR16 drum machine using multiple prime number beats per bar per instrument poly-rhythm, this instrumental tells the story of a huntsman spider sneaking up on a nervous cricket on a wall near the ceiling in a 1970's Australian house. The guitar was a 1973 Fender Stratocaster through a Zoom 9002 all recorded into my trusty Yamaha 4 track cassette recorder. Not long afterwards I was listening to a track by a friend and colleague Robert Finzi in Canberra who used a completely different algorithmic approach to a totally different theme and yet ended up with a similar rhythmic feel.
